Disney Village Transformation: What’s Changing Next?

Read time: 2 minutes

The Disney Village transformation is moving towards its next phase, with work on the South Block due to begin in 2027. Rainforest Café will permanently close by the end of 2026; its replacement has not been announced.

Before then, Disney Wonders opens on 22 September, followed by Italian restaurant Casa Giulia and its takeaway counterpart, Giulia Express, by the end of the year. These openings will give returning guests more changes to explore while the wider redevelopment continues.

Annette’s Diner is scheduled to reopen in the first quarter of 2027, retaining its 1950s identity. Vapiano’s refurbishment should finish in early 2027, while Pathé cinema will undergo phased improvements and largely remain open.

For anyone planning an evening outside the parks, the announcement sets out a sequence of changes rather than a single completion date. Disney has yet to reveal the South Block’s new concepts, leaving a significant part of the future dining and shopping offer to be confirmed.

The TT Take

We’re excited about the transformation of Disney Village; we’re just experiencing that excitement in slow motion. On our summer visit, the new shops showed what a difference modernisation can make, while the buildings still waiting their turn showed why it was needed. Construction currently makes the place difficult to appreciate, but the potential is there. Good news overall, then: the test is whether the finished Village combines those smarter surroundings with enough Disney character to make an evening here feel worth planning.
