Drawing lessons, character encounters and indoor play put animation craft in the spotlight—and give families more to explore between rides.

The Magic of Disney Animation is now open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, bringing drawing, play and character experiences together around the creative process behind Disney’s animated films.
Inspired by Once Upon a Studio, the attraction includes Olaf Draws!, where an Audio-Animatronics Olaf accompanies drawing lessons featuring recorded guidance from Disney artists and filmmakers. Different classes feature different characters, giving visitors a choice of subjects to put on paper.

Younger children have Drawn to Wonderland, an indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair’s Alice in Wonderland artwork. Meanwhile, Off the Page! places character encounters within settings themed to animation departments, including story, lighting and effects.
A theatre presents Once Upon a Studio with additional effects and animation, while an enchanted gallery brings artwork to life. Disney’s opening announcement sets out the full collection of experiences.
For visitors, the appeal is the variety: something to make, places to explore and characters to meet. Together, those activities offer another way to spend part of a Hollywood Studios day beyond moving between its major rides.
The TT Take:
There is something rather fitting about a park called Hollywood Studios showing guests how animation is made. For those nostalgic for its filmmaking focus, this looks like a welcome nod to that identity, with a practical benefit for families looking for more to do between the headline attractions. A fuller day out is built from more than headline rides.
