Tormenta Rampaging Run at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags’ record-breaking dive coaster raises the stakes

Six Flags Over Texas has unveiled Tormenta Rampaging Run, a new record-breaking roller coaster set to open in 2026 as part of the park’s 65th anniversary celebrations. The ride is being billed as the world’s first giga dive coaster, standing 309 feet tall, reaching speeds of up to 87mph and stretching across 4,199 feet of track.

The headline numbers are serious. Six Flags says the ride will claim six world records, including tallest dive coaster, fastest dive coaster, longest dive coaster, tallest vertical coaster loop, highest Immelmann inversion and highest 95-degree beyond-vertical drop. The ride will also sit within Rancho de la Tormenta, a new Spanish village-themed area with a restaurant called Cocina Abuela.

For thrill-seekers, this is clearly good news. A 309-foot dive coaster with a 285-foot beyond-vertical drop should make a major impact on the Six Flags Over Texas line-up. What is not yet clear is whether Tormenta Rampaging Run will feel like a genuinely new evolution of the dive coaster format, or simply a much taller version of a ride concept that has existed for years.

The TT Take:

Tormenta Rampaging Run looks like a major statement from Six Flags Over Texas. The height, speed and record list give the park a genuine headline attraction for 2026, and for visitors chasing big thrills, this stacks up as good news. The real test is not whether the numbers are impressive — they clearly are — but whether the ride experience feels properly unique once guests are actually on board. Will this be a taller dive coaster, or a record-breaker that earns its own identity?
