Efteling’s Ravenring is taking shape ahead of its planned opening on 1 December 2026. The latest construction update reveals more of its raven-inspired design, including carved wooden wings, ornamental bird heads and a large golden medallion crowning the structure.

The attraction will debut Vekoma’s WaveCatcher model, bringing a new flat ride from a manufacturer best known for roller coasters. Its 18 winged gondolas accommodate 36 riders, with an onboard lever allowing guests to influence how steeply their vehicle tilts as the ride rotates.

Efteling says each flight will last approximately 90 seconds and reach a maximum height of five metres. Within the story, guests undertake a flight ritual to become new protectors of Raveleijn, discovering which of its five magical elements suits them afterwards.

Ravenring represents €5 million of the wider €20 million investment. Another €10 million funds the new Raveleijn: Battle for the City stunt show, developed with Puy du Fou, while €5 million goes towards renovating the area. The reopening also brings the revamped De Verslaeghen Draek Inn and new In den Ravenkorf shop.

The TT Take

A new ride model is enough to make us curious; giving it to Efteling to build a world around makes us considerably more interested. Vekoma’s latest flat ride is an intriguing prospect, particularly when it becomes part of a bigger investment in storytelling, live entertainment and the surrounding area. We’ll reserve judgement on how much difference the controls make until we’ve tried them. The prospect of a fuller, richer Raveleijn is already a good reason to return.
