Six Flags park sales: will guests see the benefits?
Seven parks have changed hands, while Six Flags promises greater focus on those it retains. Better days out will depend on what follows.

Six Flags’ seven-park sale to EPR Properties has moved beyond the announcement stage. The six US transactions closed on 6 April 2026, and EPR’s July results confirmed completion of the full portfolio acquisition, including La Ronde in Montreal. The original March agreement put the cash consideration payable to Six Flags at $331 million, subject to adjustments.

The US parks are Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun, Michigan’s Adventure, Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston, Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great Escape. EPR’s operating arrangements place those six with Enchanted Parks, while La Ronde’s designated operator is La Ronde Operations Inc. Ownership and day-to-day management are therefore separate parts of the deal.
Six Flags says selling the properties allows it to concentrate capital and operational attention on parks with stronger growth prospects. Its stated objectives also include better margins, cash flow and earnings. Those are business targets; they do not themselves establish how much additional investment individual remaining parks will receive.
For the departing parks, EPR’s July update provides one tangible commitment: approximately $11 million of additional property improvements anticipated over the following two years. That release does not break the spending down by park or identify specific new attractions, leaving the visitor impact to emerge as projects are detailed and delivered.
The TT Take
The sale can make financial sense before it makes any noticeable difference to a day out. A smaller portfolio could mean more attention for each remaining park, and guests will notice if that attention reaches the rides, the maintenance budget and the queues. The departing parks deserve the same scrutiny: fresh ownership needs to translate into worthwhile additions and better day-to-day care. For visitors on both sides of the deal, it remains too early to judge.
