Six Flags tests Cedar Point name change in guest survey

1 min read

Six Flags is asking selected passholders about alternative names for Cedar Point, including “Six Flags Cedar Point”, “Cedar Point by Six Flags” and “Six Flags Over North Ohio”—the latter removing the park’s established name entirely. Similar research is taking place at Kings Island following the companies’ 2024 merger.

The company stresses these are research concepts, not proposed or final names, and no decisions have been made. For now, Cedar Point remains Cedar Point.

The TT Take:

Cedar Point already has something marketing departments spend fortunes trying to create: a name that means something. “Six Flags Cedar Point” would be the least objectionable change, but replacing that identity entirely risks making an iconic destination sound interchangeable. A new sign is easy to explain to shareholders; what it adds to a guest’s day is rather harder.
