Six Flags Fiesta Texas reveals Werewolf Gorge for 2027
The new family launch coaster promises four launches, werewolf theming and a 39-inch height requirement when it opens in San Antonio in 2027.
Werewolf Gorge at Six Flags Fiesta Texas has been revealed for 2027, and on paper, this looks like one of the most ambitious family coasters Six Flags has announced in years.
The new Vekoma family launch coaster is planned for the park’s 35th anniversary season and is being billed as the world’s longest family launch coaster. It will feature 4,120ft of track, four launches, a mid-course rollback, speeds up to 45mph, a two-minute 36-second ride time and a 39-inch height requirement.

Family coaster no longer has to mean small children and polite applause.
The ride will be set around a mysterious Texas quarry, with riders boarding a mining train before being pulled into a werewolf curse. Six Flags is promising themed queue spaces, cryptid museum elements, near-miss werewolf figures, scenic moments and a finale through a crumbling quarry structure.
That is the most interesting part here. Six Flags has always been strong on regional thrills, but this announcement points towards something more atmospheric: a family coaster with records, story and a sense of place. Almost like a smaller, hairier cousin to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure — not in scale, but in the idea of making a family thrill ride feel like a proper adventure.

The ride stats are doing a lot of heavy lifting, but the promise is clear. If Six Flags lands the theming, Werewolf Gorge could be much more than another record for the brochure.
The TT Take:
This is good news for Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and a very encouraging sign for the family thrill category. Four launches, 32 airtime moments and a 39-inch height requirement is exactly the sort of blend parks should be chasing: exciting enough for older guests, approachable enough for younger riders, and substantial enough to feel like a headline attraction. The key test is whether the finished experience feels fully themed, not just decorated — because if Six Flags gets that right, Werewolf Gorge could be one of the most interesting regional park additions of 2027.
