Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Hollywood Studios
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is back with The Muppets — but the real test is whether this feels like a true reimagining, not just a fast overlay.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets has opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with The Electric Mayhem taking over the former Aerosmith-led attraction. Disney says the reimagined ride opened from 26 May 2026, bringing a new Muppets storyline, updated courtyard details, refreshed queue elements, new on-ride music, merchandise, and nearby food and drink at FØØD by Swedish Chef.

The revised storyline keeps guests inside G-Force Records, now under Muppet management, as Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem prepare for a major concert. Disney has also added the first Scooter Audio-Animatronics figure, created using motion-capture performance, alongside celebrity cameos and five soundtrack options including “Song 2,” “Born To Be Wild,” and “Walking on Sunshine.”

The change follows a wider reshaping of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo closed after their final operating day on 7 June 2025, with Disney moving The Muppets to Sunset Boulevard through the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster retheme. For visitors, the ride being open again is clearly good news. The question is whether the finished experience feels different enough to satisfy Muppet fans, while still winning over guests who were attached to the original Aerosmith version.

THE TT TAKE:
A refreshed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is good news for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, especially when the park needs capacity and The Muppets need a proper home after the loss of Muppet*Vision 3D. The ride was already a fun, classic attraction, so the bar here is not whether the coaster still works — it does — but whether the new creative layer earns the change. The Muppets have moved house. The question is whether they have been given a proper stage, or just a louder room. Until guests have had time with the full experience, this sits in the promising-but-unproven category.
